Updated pictures of the stock class drag racer.  finally got everything painted, and most of the assembly complete.  track is still coming off to get re-cleated, and the motor needs new seals, rings, and gaskets.

Well, we picked up this 73 puma 440, and got a really good deal on it. We are keeping this one stock. The pictures are a little dark, but i think you get the idea. its not perfect, but in great shape.

I have a NOS tach, NOS seat cover, and NOS rear tool shroud on the way for this thing. The cleats are getting a little worn, so another track rebuild is on the horizon.  the tunnel has a few dents, but nothing serious. the bellypan is perfect, and i mean perfect, except someone cut a second hole for a different exhaust?

Other than that it starts right up, and feels pretty snappy.

Typical Kawi-powered Arctic Cat. Points ignition, Tilly carb, and smashed can muffler aren't going to win any races!

The salisbury clutch might be good for a show sled, but on a race sled this thing is the first thing to go.

Nice exhaust welding, HUH?

Most people don't have a clue what this is, but it is none other than the Hooker Header exhaust system i have been searching for.  This is a major set-up from the can muffler, but not quite as good as a tune pipe.  It would be really easy to sneak one of these under the hood of a stock sled because when installed it looks stock.  :)

This one is getting a little rusty, so i might have a few reproduced, if there is enough interest.

the dash has been broken and fixed with some machine screws and aluminum. i will search for a new at the swapmeets, but for now this one will do. the speedo is in nice shape and actually still work. the sled was sitting outside when it was raining out, so hopefully the condensation with dry up.

You can see the problem with the tunnel, the toolbox, and the seat here. something must have hit or fallen on this at one time because all the breaks and dents seem to be right in line with on another. look right above the rear grab handle and on the running board edge.

the seat was "fixed" with duct tape. that is coming off for sure. the back rest foam and cover is perfect, so there is no need to replace it. the outer plastic tool box needs to be replaced, and help is on the way.

Here are some of the new parts i have been slowly gathering for this sled.  A NOS rear glove box, NOS replacement seat cover (please note that the "replacement seat covers" for the 73 puma came in solid black only with no leopard print), and of course a "KISS MY ASS" sno-flap to replace the half ripped off cat original.

How far was this sled on the back burner? check this picture out!

I also am having some custom made racing parts for this sled and the 400 puma.  Check back soon for more updates.
